Thanks a bunch for the hotspots, Jeff. We just so happen to be in the area near few of them. One of them, on Centinela, is right next to the place we were going to get. The other one is near my work so that's cool.
I got a call today from our bank in Omaha and apparently the negative $560 balance from yesterday wasn't our transactions from this weekend but from late last week. All the charges from Friday till Monday went through this morning and we now have a negative balance of, drumroll please, $806. No fucking joke!
Luckily the lady at the bank knows us and that we'd pay up if necessary, so she paid it all, avoiding overdraft charges and stuff which would've been $25 per transaction. We didn't bring any cash with us, which I know is dumb, so everything we've done was transacted with my debit card.
It makes sense that it happened, though. Why? Because everytime in my life that I finally get a lot of cash or something, an expense for pretty much exactly that amount comes up. For example, I switched bank accounts once and had $500 that I didn't know I had in there. My phone shut off for past due invoices which totaled around $250 and I spilled beer on my phone and it broke, so I bought another one for $200. I know the phone bill is a controlled thing that I should've been aware of, but I wasn't.
So what I'm getting at is that earlier I mentioned that we didn't have to pay a deposit on the apartment. The deposit was supposed to be $950. Our negative balance was $806, not too mention that from the transactions that came through and we've been charged for, there's still two more that I'm aware of, so we had to borrow and deposit $900 just to be safe.
Top that. See ya' later.
Oh, and our deepest condolences to New Orleans.
